What is Corvallis Spring Roll?
Corvallis Spring Roll is a community bike and trike ride and cycle fair just for kids. We’re much more than a ride around town! On event day, kids ages 12 and younger have the opportunity to participate in active, bike-centric stations in the cycle fair, ride the long loop or short loop course for up to an hour, and listen to a bike safety instructor before we hand out prizes. Local organizations in our cycle fair host a Bike Skills and Safety station, an Off-Road Skills Station, Trick Out Your Bike station, Ask-A-Wrench and a Bike Swap, do bike helmet safety checks, give away (and sell) bike helmets and more! The road ride emphasizes participation and effort, rather than in what place a rider finishes. Riders get a sticker (optional) for every lap they complete.

Did we mention prizes? Registered participants are eligible for prize giveaways including bike gear and gift certificates! Every registered participant also receives a swag and goodies donated by local business and organizations.

Our mission is to introduce and encourage cycling as a fun, safe and healthy activity for kids throughout their lives. Our goal is to promote active lifestyles for kids, safe bicycling habits and community livability. We believe in encouraging the youngest members of our community to get outside and get active.

How old (or young) must one be to ride?
Kids up to age 12 may participate in Corvallis Spring Roll. The youngest riders follow a sidewalk loop around Cloverland Park. More experienced riders pedal a 1 km closed (to vehicles) course through the Cloverland Park neighborhood.

May parents ride the course?
Yes – parents may ride alongside their own child on the long course. Parents are not required to register for the event. Some kids on training wheels are more comfortable on the sidewalk loop, others on the longer course. Your child can help decide which course might be the best fit. Register for the one you think will work for your child — we can always make changes the day of the event! All riders on the sidewalk loop need a parent or guardian close at hand, but we ask parents to stay off the sidewalk.

What steps do you take to ensure the safety of my child?
The safety of the ride participants is our first priority:
– All riders (including adults) must wear a helmet and shoes while on the course.
– The long course is closely monitored for vehicle traffic and closed in several places. The neighborhood is informed well in advance of our event and neighbors made a great effort to avoid the roads while kids are riding.
– Volunteers are stationed along the course to assist and direct riders.
– A first aid booth is staffed by local physicians.
– All riders will have a race bib with their name and cell phone number of a parent or guardian.

How do I register?
You may click here to visit our registration page on this website. You may also register in person the day of the event. However registration fees will increase on the day of the event.

What course do I register for if my child rides a balance (push) bike?
The sidewalk loop would be a great fit – it’s set up for tricycles, push bikes, and bikes with training wheels. You can always change your mind the day of the event and switch to the long course. We’re flexible. We just want everyone to have fun!

How does family registration work?
Have a big family?  No worries, the family rate makes registration costs more affordable for people registering 3 or more riders. Pay just $25 (or $35 on the day of the event) to enter all riders in a family. Parents are not required to register, but must sign a waiver. Parents ride for free.
